Lucy Jane Davies is a singer-songwriter originally from the North of England. She plays the piano and cello and has been known to hit a glockenspiel on occasion though she probably won't admit it.Her music probably sits at the exact mid-point between Norah Jones and PJ Harvey, but doesn't sound like either of them. There are hints of classical music, jazz, maybe even folk. But again, it doesn't really sound like any of those things. It's definitely not rock and roll.
For the past couple of years, Lucy has been playing with double bassist Peter Marsh and drummer Paul May. They've evolved a hypnotic, singular sound. It's quiet but not twee; there's a muscularity to these twisting, often beautiful songs that has hushed audiences and fellow musicians everywhere they've played. In a good way. Some songs are infectiously catchy - others finish up so far from their beginnings that you wonder how they got there.
Lucy Jane are: Lucy Davies, voice, piano and cello, Pete Marsh double bass, Paul May, drums.
